Jeb Bush Appoints  Openly Gay Circuit Judge

Conservative Florida Governor Jeb Bush (R) unexpectedly made gay history this week when he promoted openly lesbian Miami-Dade County Judge Victoria Sigler to the Circuit Court bench.  The circuit court is the highest level of trial court in Florida.  Sigler was first elected to the county bench in 1994 with the endorsement and strong financial backing of the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund.  Sigler  had received high ratings as a county judge.  In a statement on the appointment, Bush said that Sigler “has consistently demonstrated a high level of integrity, competence and impartiality to the law throughout her career.”
