Dolphin Democrats Decide
Elections This Wednesday

The Dolphin Democratic Club, Broward County’s Oldest and Largest Gay and Lesbian Political Organization, will be holding annual elections for Officers and Directors on February 9, 2000.  Anyone who has been a member for 45 days and is current with his or her dues may run for office.

The membership fee is only $15 and includes a subscription to the Dolphin News. Any member can become a booster for an additional $20.  Boosters are recognized in the Dolphin news for their support in subsidizing the cost of the newsletter. For $500, you can become a Dolphin Benefactor and you get a Dolphin polo shirt, as well as your portrait in the Dolphin News.

Candidates for the Dolphin Board are as follows: Tony Espaillat and Dean Trantalis for the presidency.  Espaillat, the incumbent was endorsed by the nominating committee. 

Vice-President Michael Albetta, Secretary, Marc Dickerman and Treasurer, Kevin Swogger, are at this time running unopposed.

The candidates for Directors include: Diane Arnold, John Connor, Jeffrey Demontmoreney, Lori Glasser, Shane Gunderson, Gretchen Hasselkus, George Hunker, Percy Johnson, Emil Tyrkas, Bill Rettinger, Ritchie Ruben, Gail Scolamiero and Mitchell Weisbrot.

The club’s previous president, William Salicco, did not finish his term.  He resigned last Fall to run for the District 4 City Commission seat in Fort Lauderdale.
